Hamas on Hamas!

Heads are spinning over the Islamic militant group Hamas since last week's big win in Palestinian parliamentary elections. Think about it, Hamas, the ruthless terrorist organization bent on obliterating Israel, captured 74 of 132 seats.

Founded in the late 1980s on the principle that "there is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad," Hamas has since claimed responsibility for hundreds of deadly attacks on Israeli military and civilian targets, including numerous suicide bombings. The question now is whether Hamas will turn away from its terrorist past in order to maintain their international favors.

Some analysts say yes. They say that Hamas has more or less abided by a ceasefire for the past year, and that it has moderated its traditionally militant stance. They also say that much of Hamas's popularity stems not from terrorist activities, but from the network of schools, health clinics, and soup kitchens the group operates.

Other analysts say that all sides of Hamas are still, ultimately, dedicated to the same old goal - destroying Israel. They point out that, whatever services Hamas may provide to ordinary Palestinians, it has never renounced the program described in its 1988 charter.
So, what does Hamas say about Hamas?

"The Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS)"

  • "The movement's program is Islam. From it, it draws its ideas, ways of thinking and understanding of the universe, life and man. It resorts to it for judgment in all its conduct, and it is inspired by it for guidance of its steps."

  • "The basic structure of the Islamic Resistance Movement consists of Muslims who have given their allegiance to Allah whom they truly worship. . . . They fear Allah and raise the banner of Jihad in the face of the oppressors, so that they would rid the land and the people of their uncleanliness, vileness, and evils."
"Killing the Jews"

  • "The Islamic Resistance Movement is one of the links in the chain of the struggle against the Zionist invaders. . . . The Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to the realization of Allah's promise, no matter how long that should take. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said: 'The Day of Judgment will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.'"
  • "The Islamic Resistance Movement believes that the land of Palestine is . . . consecrated for future Muslim generations until Judgment Day. It, or any part of it, should not be squandered: it, or any part of it, should not be given up. Neither a single Arab country nor all Arab countries, neither any king or president, nor all the kings and presidents, neither any organization nor all of them, be they Palestinian or Arab, possess the right to do that."
"Through Jihad"

  • "Now and then the call goes out for the convening of an international conference to look for ways of solving the (Palestinian) question. . . . These conferences are only ways of setting the infidels in the land of the Muslims as arbitrators. . . . There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors."

  • "The day that enemies usurp part of Muslim land, Jihad becomes the individual duty of every Muslim. In face of the Jews' usurpation of Palestine, it is compulsory that the banner of Jihad be raised. To do this requires the diffusion of Islamic consciousness among the masses, both on the regional, Arab, and Islamic levels. It is necessary to instill the spirit of Jihad in the heart of the nation so that they would confront the enemies and join the ranks of the fighters."
"Extending Assistance, Financial or Moral"

  • "Muslim society is a mutually responsible society. . . . Mutual social responsibility means extending assistance, financial or moral, to all those who are in need and joining in the execution of some of the work. Members of the Islamic Resistance Movement should consider the interests of the masses as their own personal interests. They must spare no effort in achieving and preserving them."

  • "Jihad is not confined to the carrying of arms and the confrontation of the enemy. The effective word, the good article, the useful book, support and solidarity--together with the presence of sincere purpose for the hoisting of Allah's banner higher and higher--all these are elements of the Jihad for Allah's sake."
"Nothing Can Overcome Iron Except Iron"

  • "The Zionist plan is limitless. After Palestine, the Zionists aspire to expand from the Nile to the Euphrates. When they will have digested the region they overtook, they will aspire to further expansion. . . . Leaving the circle of struggle with Zionism is high treason, and cursed be he who does that."

  • "This is the only way to liberate Palestine. . . . It is one of the laws of the universe and one of the rules of existence. Nothing can overcome iron except iron."

[Our intention is to] finally establish such a society in Palestine that Palestine shall be as Jewish as England is English, or America is American. - Chaim Weizmann,

David Ben-Gurion (Father of modern Israel)
“If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel. It is normal; we have taken their country. It is true God promised it to us, but how could that interest them? Our God is not theirs. There has been Anti - Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault ? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?”

"We must expel Arabs and take their places."
-- David Ben Gurion, 1937, Ben Gurion and the Palestine Arabs, Oxford University Press, 1985.

"We must use terror, assassination, intimidation, land confiscation, and the cutting of all social services to rid the Galilee of its Arab population."
-- David Ben-Gurion, May 1948, to the General Staff. From Ben-Gurion, A Biography, by Michael Ben-Zohar, Delacorte, New York 1978.

"There has been Anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?"
-- Quoted by Nahum Goldmann in Le Paraddoxe Juif (The Jewish Paradox), pp. 121-122.

"Jewish villages were built in the place of Arab villages. You do not even know the names of these Arab villages, and I do not blame you because geography books no longer exist. Not only do the books not exist, the Arab villages are not there either. Nahlal arose in the place of Mahlul; Kibbutz Gvat in the place of Jibta; Kibbutz Sarid in the place of Huneifis; and Kefar Yehushua in the place of Tal al-Shuman. There is not a single place built in this country that did not have a former Arab population."
-- David Ben Gurion, quoted in The Jewish Paradox, by Nahum Goldmann, Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1978, p. 99.

"Let us not ignore the truth among ourselves ... politically we are the aggressors and they defend themselves... The country is theirs, because they inhabit it, whereas we want to come here and settle down, and in their view we want to take away from them their country."
-- David Ben Gurion, quoted on pp 91-2 of Chomsky's Fateful Triangle, which appears in Simha Flapan's "Zionism and the Palestinians pp 141-2 citing a 1938 speech.

"If I knew that it was possible to save all the children of Germany by transporting them to England, and only half by transferring them to the Land of Israel, I would choose the latter, for before us lies not only the numbers of these children but the historical reckoning of the people of Israel."
-- David Ben-Gurion (Quoted on pp 855-56 in Shabtai Teveth's Ben-Gurion in a slightly different translation).
"There is no such thing as a Palestinian people... It is not as if we came and threw them out and took their country. They didn't exist."
-- Golda Meir, statement to The Sunday Times, 15 June, 1969.

"How can we return the occupied territories? There is nobody to return them to."
-- Golda Meir, March 8, 1969.

"Any one who speaks in favor of bringing the Arab refugees back must also say how he expects to take the responsibility for it, if he is interested in the state of Israel. It is better that things are stated clearly and plainly: We shall not let this happen."
-- Golda Meir, 1961, in a speech to the Knesset, reported in Ner, October 1961

"This country exists as the fulfillment of a promise made by God Himself. It would be ridiculous to ask it to Account for its legitimacy."-- Golda Meir, Le Monde, 15 October 1971
Golda Meir
Prime Minister of Israel
1969 - 1974
"We walked outside, Ben-Gurion accompanying us. Allon repeated his question, What is to be done with the Palestinian population?' Ben-Gurion waved his hand in a gesture which said 'Drive them out!"
-- Yitzhak Rabin, leaked censored version of Rabin memoirs, published in the New York Times, 23 October 1979.

"[Israel will] create in the course of the next 10 or 20 years conditions which would attract natural and voluntary migration of the refugees from the Gaza Strip and the west Bank to Jordan. To achieve this we have to come to agreement with King Hussein and not with Yasser Arafat."
-- Yitzhak Rabin (a "Prince of Peace" by Clinton's standards), explaining his method of ethnically cleansing the occupied land without stirring a world outcry. (Quoted in David Shipler in the New York Times, 04/04/1983 citing Meir Cohen's remarks to the Knesset's foreign affairs and defense committee on March 16.)

"The past leaders of our movement left us a clear message to keep Eretz Israel from the Sea to the River Jordan for future generations, for the mass aliya (=Jewish immigration), and for the Jewish people, all of whom will be gathered into this country."
-- Former Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir declares at a Tel Aviv memorial service for former Likud leaders, November 1990. Jerusalem Domestic Radio Service.

"The settlement of the Land of Israel is the essence of Zionism. Without settlement, we will not fulfill Zionism. It's that simple."

"It is the duty of Israeli leaders to explain to public opinion, clearly and courageously, a certain number of facts that are forgotten with time. The first of these is that there is no Zionism, colonialization, or Jewish State without the eviction of the Arabs and the expropriation of their lands."
-- Ariel Sharon, Israeli Foreign Minister, addressing a meeting of militants from the extreme right-wing Tsomet Party, Agence France Presse, November 15, 1998.

With all these wonderful facts in mind, what point do you intend to make? From the looks of it, you see know hope for peaceful co-existence. My desire is that the two will grow up and learn how to manage conflict without violence. It weems to me that a gloden opportunity stands before them.

Let's us pray for peace and even more that the Prince of Peace may soon appear!

Think about it, Hamas, the ruthless terrorist organization bent on destroying Israel... words used: RUTHLESS, TERRORIST , DESTROYING. WHAT POINT ARE YOU MAKING? MY POINT IS THAT THE STATE OF ISRAEL IS AN ILLEGAL OCCUPATION ROOTED IN INJUSTICE.

Certainly, my brother, you won't deny that Hamas is a ruthless terrorist organization bent of destroying Israel. Please read the document (see link in post) where the Hamas explain themselves in just those terms. And pray tell who provides you with such information about Israel. Even if one can legally show that the land belongs to Palestine, what need is there for such brutal violence? Why encourage such hate in your young people? Why end their precious lives in useless suicidal slaughter?

Please, my brother, do not misread me, it is not my aim to promote injustice. Nor am I inclined to take sides on the issue of mutual injustice. I only pose for you a problem which the international community is beginning to confront for seriously since Hamas’ convincing victory last week.

Please know that hate and haste combined make for irrational behavior. Look closely into the heart… don’t let the bitterness of injustice in this life take root and destroy the life offered in Christ Jesus!

Pray for peace!

self defense is not only a right it is a a duty. Even if the enemy has bigger weapons, international backing and is able to slaughter you at a rate you cannot combat on an equal level. The battle isn't always to the strong.

Perhaps I asked too many questions in my last post. In self defense, forgive me. Now there’s weapon that has no equal! I agree! The battle belongs to the Lord!

Fie on the Jewish State
Fie on the Muslim State
Those who worship the Christ inherrited the promise
So when do we get to fight
Not on the side of the Jews
or
The Muslims
But for Jerusalem, Al-Quds
All the land from the Euphrates to the Nile--and--
the World
When shall we claim what is rightfully ours
Drive out the true infidels
Those whose swords stones and employed Roman crosses drank the prophets blood
and those who deny that Jesus is the true and final seal of the Prophets--even God
Yashua is Yahweh--Isa is Allah
Does this surprise you Jew?
Does this surprise you Muslim?
You both believe the same things about God--even use the same words
Yet you hate wachother as only brothers can
Hurry up and kill each other so the true Children of God, brothers of Jesus can move in

...or if all you true believers kill eachother off. maybe us heathens can have the land back
