Barth on Father!

No human father, but God alone, is properly, truly and primarily Father. No human father is the creator of his child, the controller of its destiny, or its saviour from sin, guilt and death. No human father is by his word the source of its temporal and eternal life. In this proper, true and primary sense God - and He alone - is Father. He is so as the Father of mercy, as the Father of His Son, of the Lord Jesus Christ … God is the Father of whom the whole family, or all fatherhood, in heaven and on earth is named (Isa. 63:16; Matt. 23:9; Isa. 49:15; Psa. 27:10). (III, 4, p. 245. Parents and Children.)
